not mean to us

I feel bad for FL. My poor old exState has taken a severe kick in the crotch this season. Mom n dad are fine. Yeah I know you were worried. This is the third hurricane that has ripped through Zephyrhills but mom n dad are still there, relatively unscathed. Not everyone in their park was as luck. I'm just glad they are.

SPREAD THE WORD

SNAPSHOT OF OUR LAST FOUR YEARS

RESULTS OF WAR

We’ve spent $151 billion[1] on the war in Iraq -- 3 times the original estimate.[2] Yet we’ve found no weapons of mass destruction and no link between Saddam Hussein and Al Qaeda terrorists.[3] The war has killed over 1,000 Americans[4] and 16,000 -- mostly civilian – Iraqis.[5] It diverted us from capturing the 9/11 mastermind Osama Bin Laden and has actually “accelerated recruitment” of his terrorist network.[6] The war was declared illegal by the head of the U.N. and has turned many allies against us.

JOBS AND THE ECONOMY

We’ve lost 1 million jobs since President Bush took office,[7] -- the only administration to see a net loss since the 1930’s Depression.[8] Home foreclosures jumped 50%[9], and 4 million more Americans sank into poverty – now 36 million.[10] But this administration has reduced the occupations eligible for overtime pay[11] and proposed allowing states to opt out of the Federal minimum wage of $5.15.[12]

HEALTH CARE ACCESS

49 people die each day because they lack health insurance,[13] yet 6.3 million fewer people are insured than when Bush took office – now 45 million.[14] Drug prices have risen nearly 3 times faster than inflation.[15] But this administration passed a law barring Medicare from negotiating lower prices from drug corporations.[16]

ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY

More than 1 in 3 Americans is breathing polluted air,[17] leading to as many as 200 deaths a day.[18] Yet the Bush administration’s Clear Skies Act would repeal key parts of the Clean Air Act and allow more pollution from coal-fired plants.[19]

HOMELAND SECURITY

20,000 shipping containers a day arrive in the U.S., but only 5% get inspected. [20] President Bush refused to fund the Container Security Act[21] and resisted a law that would have secured 15,000 hazardous chemical plants vulnerable to terrorists.[22] The Bush administration has also proposed cutting funds for firefighters and first responders, and cutting funding for police in half. [23]

FINANCIAL STABILITY

President Bush turned a $236 billion annual surplus into a $520 billion deficit – creating the largest national debt in history[24][25] -- mainly by cutting taxes for the wealthy.[26] Paying interest on this debt costs us more than the combined budgets of homeland security, education, transportation, justice and environment. misplaced arsenal of democracy

Oh here it is... Hmmm 1958. That was years before they decided that hopped up pilots that flew nuclear armed weapons had to take drug tests...(yeah, this started about the time W went AWOL).
A few things:

The Air Force insists the bomb was being used for practice and did not contain the plutonium trigger needed for a nuclear explosion.

Wouldn't have been more prudent to test it without the nuclear payload if they weren't going to detonate it anyway?

The United States lost 11 nuclear bombs in accidents during the Cold War that were never recovered, according to the Brookings Institution, a Washington think tank.

So if they find any of them in IRAQ, it's just a f$cking coincident? Which also makes you think... If they couldn't find our own sh!t, how did they think they could have found Saddam's imaginary stockpile??

An estimated 50 nuclear warheads, most of them from the former Soviet Union, still lie on the bottom of the world's oceans, according to the environmental group Greenpeace.

THAT's just effin' schweeet. Nicholson is right, I can't handle the truth...

Movie of Drunk GW Bush
Six years after he "quit drinking." The Smoking Gun is there.

GWB: "It's become clear to America in the course of this campaign that I have made mistakes in my life, but I'm proud to tell you that I've learned from those mistakes." 11/3/2000

Yes, learned. Learned to lie about your activities.

Dr Justin A. Frank Author of Bush On The Couch:

Even if Mr. Bush abstains completely from alcohol, as he claims, he exhibits many of the worrisome, erratic, and grandiose personality characteristics of the so-called "dry drunk."

Only if he's STILL drinking he's just a "drunk," and a liar.

Wow. Penny Craver is selling Tremont Music Hall

I'm trying to think of all of the great acts I've seen at the Tremont...Southern Culture On The Skids, Stereolab, Superchunk, Jonathan Fire*eater, countless local acts... My old band played there three times.
1) We owned. Triple bill with Rory Lewis (the human dung heap), World Class Fad, and (us) Frocky Jack. It never got as good as that show again. It was like 95deg F in there.
2) I think the 2nd was the "Rage Against AIDS' benny. We played in the big room. I won't say the crowd was small but I knew everyone's middle name in the room. We rocked out with Cyclone Mack later that evening in another club (since closed).
3) I can't even remember who we played with. This was plagued with a few technical difficulties. It was about 41deg F in the club that night. I had fun.

My complaint to ABC news (about them pronouncing the papers proving Bush was AWOL as forgeries):

Did Terry Moran just not bother to check with IBM about the Selectric I & II typewriters before he pronounced the recent documents about GW Bush's (lack of) military service as forgeries? Or is this just some more of Mickey Mouse reporting we've come to expect from infoTainment venues such as ABC?

Colin Powell pulls his head out of his ass momentarily

I guess he figured he's toast after November either way. He might as well work on his legacy. Maybe if he works real hard one of his testacles will reappear? Oh well, I hope someone is listening...

At last, the US administration is on the record declaring the situation in Sudan a genocide.

Colin Powell testified this morning to the Senate on the subject of Sudan. He declared that a lengthy study by the State Department has determined the Sudanese government is carrying out "genocide" against its black African population.

Powell cited a "consistent and widespread" pattern of human rights atrocities, including killing and rape. Thousands of Sudanese blacks have also been abducted into slavery.

Powell's testimony adds new energy to our rally this Sunday at the UN. Now more than ever, international leaders need to be pressured to act immediately to stop the genocide.

That's why we are mobilizing hundreds of people to come out to the UN at 2 p.m. on Sunday. We have buses coming in from upstate New York, Toronto, Washington, and Philadelphia. Together, we are going to send a message to world leaders that the time for action is now. People of conscience will not be silent.

I want to encourage you once again to come out to the rally on Sunday. Bring friends and family. And bring signs with you. Stand in solidarity with the Sudanese community.

Every day, our office is receiving new requests for buses, and we need to ramp up our efforts to attract media attention. You have already responded with remarkable enthusiasm, helping us raise over $6,500. Our coalition partners have provided several thousand more dollars to help with transportation and mobilization.

But as costs for the rally continue to mount, I am turning to you one last time with an emergency request to help us raise $1,200 by Sunday. If you haven't given already, please make a contribution now. If you have given, forward this message to friends and family. Together, we can send a message around the world that we will not sit by silently.
