CAST presents LENNY'S BACK, the truth about comedian Lenny Bruce.
Opening June 16* thru July 3rd, the Carolina Actors Studio Theatre will present Sam Bobrick and Julie Stein's LENNY'S BACK. This is the first time this production will be performed outside of Los Angeles and New York and CAST is proud to have negotiated the rights for this funny yet poignant work.
In keeping with our Mission of "EXPERIENTIAL THEATRE", Mons Venera, a very successful local musical ensemble has scored this performance and will be playing live Jazz during the show (costumed as Hasidic Rabbi's). This is the same ensemble that scored last year's production of Finer Noble Gases.
Landing in a pink flamed hearse, Allan Todd, playing Lenny, arrives from "Cloud City" on a set inhabited by live dead people posing as "the mannequins".
Our box office has been transformed into a funeral parlor and patrons will be issued black armbands and asked to sign the "bereavement book".
From there the Pall Bearers will escort them into our Demensionz night club dream sequence where they can meet characters referenced in the play and also see other comics and acts perform (Honey Harlow, Lenny's wife, is rumored to make an appearance and perform the strip tease she was so famous for - that's when Lenny fell in love with her). Lenny will do a short "gig" as well - material he couldn't do during the play.
The patrons will then be escorted into a rainy set and see Acts I and II of the show. June 16th* is an Invitation Only performance. To learn how you might obtain an invitation to this performance and a meet & greet after-party, check out our website at www.nccast.com.
